TheKleinjungs.com is home to the writing of Katie and all the things that both Katie and Stephen think you need to know about.
This site hasn’t always been this clear, this precise.
Once upon a time, Katie and Stephen, the Kleinjungs, wanted to be and were missionaries to Thailand. This domain and place on the Internet was home to many an update video, pleas for cash money, and stories of cultural mishaps and general fails.
Before Thailand, while the Kleinjungs were getting ready to become said missionaries, this site held every manner of fundraising idiocy along with honest and raw blogs about walking through chronic illness, traumatic surgeries, babies, community living and near constant set-back.
But after all that- after four surgeries in 13 months, 17 moves (2 of those being international), 3 babies in 3 years, 1 bout of treatment, 2 sending organizations, 1 more surgery for good measure, 2 relocations to Thailand and a million other fucking things, they’re happily-shell-shocked to be settled in Saint Paul, MN.
Their experiences on the mission field deeply and profoundly informed their perspectives on nearly everything from Christian outreach, salvation, white privilege, white savior complex and how white Evangelical Christians view themselves inside God’s story of this world. The pain and trauma compounded by surgeries and addiction opened them up to a worldview that is inclusive and wide and free- and one that looks far more Kingdom.
So, now. Today. Today, chances are, you’re here to read something written by Katie. Chances also are you don’t mind swearing.
Enjoy, subscribe, send an email, share. May you find room for your whole self here and the companionship and hope that comes from knowing that you are not the only one.
